Toshiba have released their new laptop, the Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-12R, a celeron-m based system clocking in at an impressive 1.86GHz, and a very low price of under £400 (check out prices on Play.com). Today we check it out and tell you all about the Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-12R laptop.
Over at Play.com (which we have found it to be the cheapest place in the UK to buy this laptop from) the Toshiba Satellite Pro L4012R is just £399.99 delivered, including VAT. I’ve ordered a lot with Play.com before and they always get things to you within a couple of days (they normally dispatch items within 24 hours).
The Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-12R has an Intel Celeron-M 440 1.86GHz processor, which is more than adequate for office and web work. It has an impressive (for this price range) 1GB of memory, and has a 120GB hard drive.
The display is a 15.4″ - which compared to a desktop monitor may seem a little small but when you’re working a lot closer to the screen you don’t need it as large - and it means a lot less to carry about (And less for the battery to power, so you get longer battery power). It weighs in at just 2.7kg and has all the standard features you would expect from a laptop, even in this cheap price range.
It can support upto 2gb of ram (only 1gb comes with it) of fast 667mhz DDR II ram. The hard drive is a SATA (150), although its speed is only 5400 rps however as this isn’t exactly a gaming laptop it shouldn’t make any difference.
The DVD drive is DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD RAM.
It comes with Microsoft Windows Vista installed, and works perfectly straight out of the box. I think this is one of the best budget laptops about - it may be cheap, but it is still just as good quality as the more expensive laptops. Check out prices and more details here.
